Product Codes: BVE92CH64, BVE92CH256
The BlackVue ELITE 9 2CH sits in the middle of the BlackVue dash cam ELITE range, above the ELITE 8 and below the BlackVue ELITE 10 2CH. It is a dual-channel dash cam recording from the front and rear of your vehicle simultaneously, giving you comprehensive coverage for everyday driving and when parked. The 2CH designation confirms this model includes both the front and rear cameras in the box.
The front camera uses the Sony IMX678 STARVIS 2 sensor at 4K UHD (3840x2160) and 30fps - the same flagship front camera as the ELITE 10 2CH. An 8-element f/1.7 aperture lens, 12-bit image pipeline and HDR processing deliver front footage that is as detailed and well-exposed as any BlackVue unit available. The rear camera steps down in resolution compared to the ELITE 10 2CH rear, recording at 2K Quad HD (2560x1440) from a 5MP Sony STARVIS 2 sensor through a 7-element f/2.0 lens. HDR processing on the rear camera keeps number plates readable in challenging lighting. For buyers who require matching 4K front and rear, the ELITE 10 2CH provides that at a higher price.
Both cameras are served by Smart Parking Mode with a 10-second pre-event buffer that runs continuously on both channels, capturing the moments before an incident as well as the incident itself. BlackVue Cloud compatibility gives you remote access to your vehicle via the free BlackVue App over Wi-Fi whenever a connection is available. For permanent always-on remote access, the optional CM100GLTE external module adds 4G LTE connectivity using a data SIM of your choice - the module and SIM are sold separately.

The ELITE 9 2CH front camera is built around the Sony IMX678 STARVIS 2 CMOS sensor, delivering 8.4 megapixels of resolution in 4K UHD (3840x2160) at 30fps - the same sensor and resolution used in the flagship ELITE 10 2CH front camera. The 8-element f/1.7 aperture lens covers a 146-degree diagonal field of view (125-degree horizontal, 68-degree vertical), admitting substantially more light than the f/2.0 lenses common on many competitors. A 12-bit capture pipeline on the front camera processes over 68 billion colours before delivering a superior 8-bit output, retrieving shadow and highlight detail that a standard pipeline discards. HDR keeps licence plates readable whether you are driving into low sun, past oncoming headlights, or out of a dark car park.
The rear camera uses a 5MP Sony STARVIS 2 CMOS sensor recording at 2K Quad HD (2560x1440) at 30fps through a 7-element f/2.0 lens covering a 142-degree diagonal field of view. HDR processing on the rear camera balances exposure in real time to keep rear number plates readable across a wide range of lighting conditions. At 2K QHD the rear camera delivers four times the resolution of Full HD 1080p, making it a capable evidence-quality recording that is more than sufficient for capturing incidents and identifying vehicles behind you. All footage from both cameras is encoded using HEVC (H.265) for maximum quality at every bitrate setting, with H.264 (AVC) available as an alternative.
The ELITE 9 2CH offers three Parking Mode options. Power Saving Mode draws under 1mA of current and wakes within one second when an impact is detected, making it the most efficient choice for extended overnight sessions with a battery pack. Motion Detection Mode activates recording on both cameras whenever movement is picked up. Time Lapse Mode creates a compressed record of activity around the vehicle over longer periods without filling the card.
A 10-second pre-event buffer runs continuously on both cameras in the background. When an impact triggers Event recording, the saved clip includes the 10 seconds before the sensor fired on both the front and rear channels - so the full context of an incident is always captured, not just the aftermath. Up to 50 Event files are protected from the normal loop overwrite. Built-in battery protection prevents excessive drain during extended Parking Mode use: a timer cut-off between 1 and 48 hours, a low voltage cut-off configurable from 11.8V to 12.5V for passenger vehicles, and a high-temperature cut-off at approximately 70 degrees C all keep the system operating safely. Please note: Parking Mode requires either a hardwire connection to a constant 12V supply (hardwire cable sold separately) or the optional BlackVue B-130A battery pack or BlackVue B-112 battery pack. The supplied cigarette lighter cable does not support Parking Mode in most vehicles.
The ELITE 9 2CH is compatible with BlackVue Cloud, giving you remote access through the free BlackVue App on iOS and Android. When an internet connection is available, the app provides Remote Live View from either camera in real time, Remote Video Playback to review footage without removing the card, GPS Tracking to follow your vehicle's location history, Emergency Notifications when the G-sensor detects an impact, and Video Backup to copy important clips to cloud storage or your phone. Two-way voice communication is available via the built-in speaker and microphone.
The ELITE 9 2CH connects directly to your smartphone via built-in dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11ac, 2.4GHz and 5GHz). For permanent always-on 4G connectivity to BlackVue Cloud - so remote features work even when no local Wi-Fi hotspot is available - the optional CM100GLTE external module can be added using a standard data SIM of your choice. The CM100GLTE is available from our BlackVue accessories page and is sold separately.
Dual-band GPS and GLONASS is built in, stamping every frame from both cameras with accurate speed and location data. Footage plays back in BlackVue Viewer with a live map overlay and G-sensor graph, providing context that is useful for insurance claims or reviewing the circumstances of an incident. The 3-axis G-sensor detects impacts, hard braking, sharp cornering and sudden acceleration, automatically protecting the relevant clips on both channels as Event files and triggering an alert via the BlackVue App if connected.
Three recording modes cover every situation: Normal mode for standard driving, Event mode for impact-triggered clips, and Parking mode for stationary monitoring. An SD Card Failure Alert issues a spoken voice warning through the built-in speaker if the microSD card develops an error. Adaptive Format-Free file management, a BlackVue proprietary system, improves recording stability and reduces the need for manual card formatting. A scheduled reboot function can be configured to restart the unit automatically at a set time.
The front camera mounts on the interior of the windscreen using the supplied double-sided tape pad. The rear camera connects to the front unit via the included 6-metre coaxial cable and mounts on the rear windscreen interior using a second tape pad. Cable routing clips are included to tuck both cables neatly along the headliner, A-pillar and C-pillar. Power for driving use is via the included cigarette lighter cable. For Parking Mode, a hardwire connection to a constant 12V supply is required - hardwire cables are available separately, or the B-130A or B-112 battery packs provide a self-contained power solution that does not require wiring into the vehicle's fuse box.
The free BlackVue App (iOS 15.0 or later, Android 10.0 or later) connects to the ELITE 9 2CH via Wi-Fi for live view, video management, settings adjustment and BlackVue Cloud features. BlackVue Viewer for Windows (Windows 7 or later) and Mac (Sierra OS X 10.12 or later) is also free to download and provides a full desktop interface for video playback with GPS map overlay and G-sensor graph display. Both are available free from BlackVue's website.

The key difference is the rear camera. The ELITE 10 2CH uses the same Sony IMX678 STARVIS 2 sensor in both front and rear cameras, recording at 4K UHD (3840x2160) on both channels. The ELITE 9 2CH uses the same flagship front camera as the ELITE 10 2CH - Sony IMX678 STARVIS 2 at 4K UHD - but pairs it with a 5MP Sony STARVIS 2 rear camera recording at 2K Quad HD (2560x1440). The ELITE 9 2CH costs less than the ELITE 10 2CH. For buyers who want identical front and rear quality, the ELITE 10 2CH is the choice. For buyers who want the best possible front camera performance with a capable rear camera at a lower price, the ELITE 9 2CH is the better value option.
The ELITE 8 2CH records at 2K Quad HD (2560x1440) on both the front and rear cameras. The ELITE 9 2CH upgrades the front camera to 4K UHD (3840x2160) - four times the pixel count - while keeping the rear camera at 2K Quad HD. Both models use Sony STARVIS 2 sensors. The ELITE 9 2CH is the right choice when maximum front camera detail is a priority. The ELITE 8 2CH offers consistent 2K QHD front and rear at a lower price.
No. The ELITE 9 2CH does not have built-in 4G LTE. It connects to your smartphone via built-in dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11ac, 2.4GHz and 5GHz) for local access. Always-on 4G connectivity for remote BlackVue Cloud features requires the optional CM100GLTE external module, sold separately, using a standard data SIM of your choice. The CM100GLTE is available from our BlackVue accessories page.
The supplied cigarette lighter cable powers the unit while driving but does not support Parking Mode in most vehicles, as the socket loses power when the ignition is switched off. For Parking Mode you need either a hardwire connection to a constant 12V supply (hardwire cable sold separately) or the optional BlackVue B-130A or BlackVue B-112 battery pack as a self-contained power solution.
The ELITE 9 2CH records two streams simultaneously - 4K front and 2K rear. At the default High quality setting this produces a combined bitrate of around 50 Mbps. The 64GB card gives approximately 2-3 hours of loop recording before older files are overwritten. The 256GB card extends this to approximately 8-10 hours. If you use Parking Mode overnight, the 256GB option is recommended. Both cards supplied by ActiveGPS are genuine BlackVue-approved microSD cards.
Yes. The rear camera records at 2K Quad HD (2560x1440) using a Sony STARVIS 2 sensor with HDR processing. At this resolution, rear number plates are clearly readable in normal driving conditions - 2K QHD provides four times the resolution of Full HD 1080p. The HDR processing ensures the camera handles challenging lighting such as bright sunshine and headlight glare effectively. For buyers who require matching 4K quality on both cameras, the ELITE 10 2CH provides identical front and rear 4K recording.

The ELITE 9 2CH is the middle option - it gives you the ELITE 10 front camera quality at a price closer to the ELITE 8. Choose the ELITE 8 2CH for consistent dual 2K QHD at the lowest price in the ELITE range. Choose the ELITE 10 2CH for matching dual 4K front and rear. For the full range see our BlackVue dash cam comparison table.
The front camera on the ELITE 9 2CH is identical to the ELITE 10 2CH front - same Sony IMX678 STARVIS 2 sensor, same 4K UHD resolution, same f/1.7 lens, same 12-bit pipeline. Front footage quality is as good as the BlackVue range offers. The rear camera records at 2K QHD with Sony STARVIS 2 and HDR, which is more than sufficient for capturing rear incidents and number plates in normal conditions and in challenging light. The saving over the ELITE 10 2CH is around £100, which for most buyers represents a meaningful difference for a rear camera step-down that will not affect most everyday use cases.
The ELITE 9 2CH suits buyers who prioritise front camera quality above all else, drivers who have been frustrated by poor front footage from budget cameras, owners who want front and rear coverage without needing the rear channel to match the front in pixel count, and anyone who would otherwise choose the ELITE 10 2CH but finds the price a stretch. It is also a sound choice for anyone replacing an older dual-channel unit and wanting a genuine performance upgrade on the front camera while keeping costs reasonable.
If rear resolution matching the front matters, the ELITE 10 2CH is the right step up. If budget is the priority and consistent dual 2K QHD front and rear is acceptable, the ELITE 8 2CH saves a further £100. For personal advice on which model suits your situation, call us on 01733 777623 Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 5:00pm.
