How to check our (activegps) HTTPS certificate

If you look at the address bar in your browser, besides our domain name 'activegps.co.uk' you will see a padlock symbol. If you click on the padlock a small window will appear, simply click 'Show Certificate' button and our full details will appear.

The example below is taken from Safari browser run on a Apple MAC.

Our certificate has been issued by web hosting company GoDaddy and expires on 28/11/2020.

What is an SSL certificate?

An SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate is a digital certificate that authenticates the identity of a Website and encrypts information sent to the server using SSL technology. Encryption is the process of scrambling data into an undecipherable format that can only be returned to a readable format with the proper decryption key. Read more about SSL/HTTPS Website connection.

In November 2017 Barclays UK aired the TV advert below. The consumer video warned consumers to look for a padlock (HTTPS Website) before they buy online on a ecommerce website. Our website (activegps) features a secure connection and padlock on every single page.

Privacy Policy Questions and Answers

Question: I ordered a Garmin chart from you today. All well with that, but after giving you the email address above, I've received an unsolicited unpleasant email from a third party, which strongly suggests that my email address may have been passed on. Can you comment on this?

Answer: Thank you for your order, and thank you for contacting us about your email concerns.

We take data protection seriously and, as part of the online order process, we are fully compliant with PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard). This ensures that data cannot be compromised or intercepted.

When an order is placed it is processed by SagePay (who are also fully PCI DSS compliant).

We do not handle this data.

You paid using PayPal (also fully PCI DSS compliant).

We review your order online at SagePay and then release the transaction. SagePay then communicate with PayPal and, if your funding source (your bank account or credit card perhaps) authorises the payment, the transaction is successfully released for us to process.

At the time of purchase an automated email is sent from SagePay to you to confirm that an order has been received. PayPal may also confirm the transaction with you. We will only send an email directly to you when your order is about to be despatched. At no point do we receive an email from your actual email address and we don't use your email address until we manually write to you later in the process.

I can confirm that there is no way that we could have sent a spam email to you, and (with the security protocols to which we subscribe) neither could we be subject to email harvesting by a third party. We also do not sell or supply customer email addresses to anyone.

The only people who have access to your email address (before we see it) are SagePay and PayPal.

In over 18 years of trading we have never had any issues regarding compromising customer email addresses. Customers have occasionally found that their PayPal accounts have been hacked.
