The Garmin zumo XT2 and the Garmin zumo XT have both been discontinued by Garmin and are no longer available to buy. Adventure riders should look at the Garmin zumo XT3 instead. What is the difference between the Garmin Montana 760i and the Montana 710i?
Both the Garmin Montana 760i and Montana 710i are rugged handheld GPS units with preloaded TopoActive Europe maps, built-in inReach satellite communicator, compass, altimeter and 32GB internal memory with a 5-inch colour touchscreen. The key difference is that the Montana 760i adds an 8 megapixel digital camera for geotagged photography - useful for documenting routes and locations. The Montana 710i does not include a camera. Both models support optional mapping via microSD card and have a 24-hour battery life. If photography on the trail matters to you, choose the 760i. If not, the 710i offers the same core capability at a lower price.
What is inReach and do I need it on a GPS device?
Garmin inReach is a satellite communication platform built into certain Garmin devices that lets you send and receive two-way messages, track and share your GPS location, and trigger a 24/7 global SOS alert - all from anywhere on Earth, even where there is no mobile signal. It uses the Iridium satellite network, which provides 100% global coverage. inReach requires an active subscription plan to use the messaging and SOS features. Can the Garmin zumo XT3 be used off-road as well as on-road?
