Product Codes: MIVM820WD and MIVM820WD1

Mio logo
Mio MiVue M820WD dual HDR detachable rider dash cam

The Mio MiVue M820WD is a three-piece detachable rider dash cam built specifically for motorcycles: a main control unit, a detachable front camera, and a separate control box, recording front and rear simultaneously. It is a distinct product from the helmet-mounted Mio MiVue MP30.

Recording quality is Full HD 1080p at 60fps front and rear (or 1080p at 30fps with HDR), using STARVIS sensors for stronger low-light performance and a 135-degree wide-angle lens on both cameras.

Real-time GPS tracking draws on five satellite systems simultaneously (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BEIDOU and QZSS) for faster, more accurate journey tracking, plus GPS Safety Camera Warnings with Mio's Smart Alert and Average Speedcam Alerts.

The M820WD is built to an IP67 waterproof standard throughout, uses a built-in SuperCap in place of a battery, and includes integrated Wi-Fi for MiVue Pro app backup and over-the-air updates.

Looking for a helmet-mounted option instead? See the Mio MiVue MP30 Dual Helmet Camera, or browse the full Mio dash cam range.

The Mio MiVue M820WD is a purpose-built motorcycle rider dash cam, designed to be mounted on the bike itself rather than the helmet, and to withstand the vibration, weather and cabling demands of motorcycle use.

Recording quality is Full HD 1080p at 60fps front and rear, or 1080p at 30fps with HDR, using STARVIS sensors on both cameras for stronger low-light performance and a 135-degree wide-angle view.

The waterproof, detachable build is designed specifically for motorcycle use: an IP67 waterproof rating throughout protects the main unit, camera and control box from the elements, and the front camera detaches via a one-click lock when you need to remove it.

A 3-axis G-sensor automatically detects impacts, and 3-in-1 Parking Mode continues to monitor the motorcycle for motion and collisions while it is left unattended.

The Mio MiVue M820WD microSD card should be U1, Class 10 or above, up to 256GB. Choose the base bundle without a card, or the 256GB tier with a high-endurance card included as standard.

Crystal clear video even at high speeds

Full HD 1080p at 60fps doubles the data density of 30fps recording, capturing smoother, more detailed footage as speeds build up on the road. An HDR option at 1080p 30fps is also available for high-contrast light, and both front and rear cameras use a 135-degree wide-angle lens to keep more of the road in view.

Real-time GPS tracking from five satellite systems

A next-generation GPS chip receives signals from five satellite systems simultaneously (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BEIDOU and QZSS), for faster positioning and more accurate journey tracking than a single-system GPS receiver. Average Speedcam Alert calculates your remaining time, distance and average speed through an average-speed camera zone, alongside GPS Safety Camera Warnings with Mio's Smart Alert.

Please note: Safety camera database excludes France, Germany, Switzerland and Turkey.

STARVIS technology for low-light clarity

Both the front and rear cameras use a premium-grade STARVIS CMOS sensor, which increases sensitivity to near-infrared light and captures footage up to four times brighter than a general sensor in near-dark conditions, useful for night riding or poorly lit roads.

3-in-1 Parking Mode

Full-time Monitoring Mode keeps both motion and collision detection running continuously. Parking Time-lapse Mode records at intervals while still detecting motion and collisions. Power Saving Mode switches to collision detection only, to conserve power while the motorcycle is parked for longer periods.

Installation

The main unit and control box mount to the motorcycle using the supplied 3M buckle and cable ties. The front camera detaches via a one-click lock for easy removal when the bike is parked. Wiring is via the supplied 12V waterproof power cable set and camera signal cable, powered from the motorcycle's 12V supply.

There is no microSD card in the box. You will therefore need to buy a microSD card separately.

MiVue Pro App

The MiVue Pro App is designed for use with the Mio MiVue M820WD. You can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Once installed on your compatible smartphone, connect via integrated Wi-Fi for fast, cable-free backup of your footage, and use Live View to check the camera is levelled correctly before you set off.

Footage is organised into Normal, Event and Parking folders, with front and rear footage backed up synchronously, and any interrupted transfer resumes automatically rather than starting again from scratch.

Change the settings and format the memory card of the Mio MiVue M820WD directly through your smartphone, and download over-the-air firmware updates without having to remove the memory card. Please note: the update settings may vary depending on the different Mio dash cam models.

Waterproof, detachable design built for the road

The Mio MiVue M820WD carries an IP67 waterproof rating throughout the main unit, camera and control box, so it stays protected on the motorcycle whatever the weather. A one-click lock lets you remove the front camera quickly, for example to take it with you when the bike is left parked, and the compact three-piece design, main device, camera and control box, keeps cabling tidy on the bike.

This is a sophisticated electronic device. It is important to read, understand, and follow the instructions provided in the user manual. To ensure optimal performance, you will need internet access and should regularly download and install firmware and software updates as recommended by the manufacturer. Like all GPS devices, it requires a clear view of the sky to connect with satellites, so be aware that certain vehicle glass or enclosures may block or reduce GPS signal reception.

Updates for this device are delivered via the internet. This page provides information on compatibility with current devices such as PCs, laptops, Macs, and smartphones. Under the Consumer Contract Regulations, you have 14 days from receipt of purchase to verify compatibility with your internet-connected device.
