The Garmin Drive 52 is a 5-inch car satnav (with pinch to zoom technology) that includes full Europe mapping which is FREE for the Lifetime of the product. The Drive 52 is also voice controllable. Directions are spoken to you by the satnav device and you can enter address details to find your next destination. If you misspell a location the Garmin will provide 'suggestions' that roughly match your inputted destination.

Traffic is via Smartphone with the Garmin Drive 52.

WiFi connectivity enables you to download the latest software without connecting to a computer. Bluetooth phone calls are also possible as well as smart notifications such as text messages and calendar reminders.

A BC 30 Wireless Reversing Camera is also available separately.

European mapping is loaded to the Garmin Sat Nav and free live, smartphone traffic information is included to help you avoid roadworks and traffic accidents redirecting you around delayed traffic. Ready to use straight from the box a suction cup mount and cigarette lighter adaptor power cable aer included.

High quality City Navigator Series mapping provides clear maps for simple navigation to the inputted destination especially with the latest screen display which uses the latest technology for clear mapping and onscreen directions. You can add additional country mapping or update the existing European maps anytime you desire (e.g. North America, Australia, Brazil and more). Type in addresses to find destination and find millions of POIs. If you misspell you are provided with suggestions that are similar to what you are typing which may be what you are intending to type so exact match searches are not essential.

The Garmin Drive sat nav is road trip ready with TripAdvisor with traveller ratings and millions of Foursquare POI's (hotels, restauarants and attractions along you route and near your destination). Up Ahead feature also provides food, fuel and other milestones (e.g. upcoming cities, etc.).

Built-in WiFi connectivity enables you to update map and software on the device.

A speed camera database is included for free to warn you to safety camera locations.

You have the option to download the Garmin Drive app that gives you real-time information displayed right along the side of your navigation screen such as live parking, weather conditions, text messages and other notifications from your phone.

Foursquare data also provides you with the ability to find millions of new and popular places. You can also get closest to your destination when going to airports, shopping centres and more (for example, the Garmin sat nav will navigate you through car parks to find entrance closest to destination)

You will also receive warnings to sharp curves, speed changes, safety cameras, level crossings and more to improve the safety of your driving by giving you pre-warning to the different potential hazards.

Installation

The Garmin Drive 52 (via smartphone) includes everything you need to mount and install it in your car. Included when you purchase from ActiveGPS is a Suction Cup Mount to make installing and removing your DriveSmart simple, quick and easy.

The most popular place to locate the satnav is at the bottom, middle of the windscreen where you can see the satnav easiest. Plus the satnavs dash cam will have a good view of the road ahead.

Charging the internal battery

We do not recommend using a third party charger with this product. A mobile phone USB charger or a laptop may not be powerful enough to reliably charge the Garmin Drive 52 and may provide an incorrect voltage or insufficient power. An official genuine Garmin AC charger is available for indoor use.

Please bear in mind that the product on this page is designed to be used in a vehicle with power provided by the included vehicle charger. The battery is for short term back up only - not for regular use. For optimum performance we recommend that you use this product connected to cigarette lighter adapter via the vehicle charger. Because of potential power surges which may damage the product you should not start your vehicle with the product connected.

Map Coverage

Garmin Drive 52 is preloaded with City Navigator NT mapping for Full Europe (UK and Ireland, Western and Eastern Europe).

These maps can be updated FREE for the life of the product, when you register your Drive 52 with Garmin UK.

here maps provide high quality detailed street level maps, which in addition to street information include features such as route calculation, Points of Interest (POI), Estimated Time of Arrival, and more.

Further Garmin Drive 52 maps are available on SD card which insert directly into the Garmin Drive 52. Available Garmin Drive maps include North America, Australia and New Zealand, Middle East and Southeast Asia.

This product is a sophisticated electronic device which requires that you read, understand, and act upon the information given in the instruction manual (usually available via the above 'manual' link). You will need internet access and, in accordance with the manufacturers’ recommendations, regularly seek out and accept all firmware or software updates offered by the manufacturer. Garmin Drive 52 Questions and Answers

Question: I've got a Garmin Drive 52 sat nav. The box makes no mention of traffic, nor are there any other numbers after the model that I can see such as LM, MT etc. In the settings, it says that I need the traffic cable for traffic. However, I'm not sure which cable I need, or indeed if I can even receive traffic. Please can you advise which cable I need and if you stock it?

Answer: There are two ways in which you can receive traffic updates/information on your Garmin Drive 52 sat nav:

Option 1. via smartphone linked with your Garmin Drive 52. For this method you need to download the Garmin Drive App on your compatible smartphone and enable Bluetooth is switched on.

Option 2. purchase the Garmin Drive 52 GTM 36 Traffic Receiver from ourselves. Once connected to your Garmin Drive 52 the GTM 36 Traffic Receiver will provide real-time traffic updates via the FM service.

Question: I have just purchased a Garmin Drive 52 sat nav and want to mount it on my dashboard. Is the Friction mount compatible with the 52? Online it seems to suggest its only with the 51.

Answer: I can confirm that the Garmin Portable Friction Mount is fully compatible with the Garmin Drive 52.
