The Garmin quatix is the only GPS-enabled marine navigation wrist watch with LCD screen that also features altimeter, barometer, 3-axis compass and temperature sensor. The watch can help you when starting a race using the virtual start line feature which ensures you are going at the maximum speed when you cross the start line. It is waterproof to 50 meters and will also provide you with tide charts.

When you connect the quatix to a Garmin chartplotter (which requires the GNT 10 NMEA transceiver) it can relay important information to the wrist watch such as wind speed, direction and water depth. Furthermore if you fall overboard it will alert the chartplotter (requires the GNT 10).

The Garmin quatix GPS-enabled marine navigation wrist watch designed to give you the competitive edge and gauge performance whilst training. Featuring an LCD screen, the quatix is ideal for use on yachts, power boats, dinghy racers, kayakers and more. It also includes an altimeter, barometer, 3 axis compass and temperature sensor. The quatix will display the time in different time zones and you can also view tide charts. Furthermore the quatix watch is waterproof to 50 meters.

If you are looking for a fitness watch and do not need the Marine connectivity provided by the quatix then we recommend you consider buying the Garmin Tactix instead.

The quatix features race countdown timer with a virtual starting line. This virtual starting line relies upon two GPS waypoints and then countdown timer provides distance to the line and also the desired speed so that you cross the starting line at the maximum speed at the exact starting line.

Once your sailing is underway, there is a tack assist mode. It will determine whether you are headed or lifted and ensure you take the optimal tack angle. This ensures efficient turning and a controlled sailing experience.

Pairing the quatix with a Garmin chartplotter

What's more you can pair the quatix with a Garmin chartplotter aboard your boat and wirelessly view NMEA 2000 data including wind speed, direction and water depth. There is also a Garmin autopilot feature that allows you to move about the boat and get information on your wrist. In adverse weather or If you are carrying vulnerable passengers/crew they can wear the quatix wristwatch. As the quatix and chartplotter are wirelessly linked, should this link be broken (i.e. the range is too far) the Man Overboard (MOB) alarm is automatically triggered. To achieve wireless connectivity from the quatix and your compatible Garmin chartplotter you will need to separately buy and use the GNT 10 NMEA 2000 transceiver.

Running time is 16 hours in GPS mode and to recharge the units internal battery a mains AC charger is included.

You can plan and review your route using the Homeport Marine planning software. This software is compatible with both Windows and Mac computers. Should you wish to you can also wirelessly connect to iPad, iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4s.
